They planned a beautiful wedding at the Missouri Botanical Gardens that we were thrilled to photograph! This is the story of their special day.

Allie + Matt live in New York City so the first time that we met them in person was for their engagement session last summer. Upon meeting them we knew that they are one of those couples destined to be together! They have just the right mix of independence and shared interests. Among the many passions they share are: science, travel, their dog, running, and many more! Matt runs marathons all over the world and I was impressed to hear about all of the places they have visited. For them an adventurous honeymoon to Machu Picchu was the only choice!

As we expected, their wedding day was perfectly planned and allowed for the most important thing - enjoying time with their friends and family. Allie and Matt both got ready with their wedding party at the Drury Inn at Union Station. This worked out perfectly as Matt loves trains and we were able to do their first look...you guessed it...right infront of the trains across the street! The lighting and colors from the trains were really fun to play around with and they also allowed for some goofy photo ops :-) After getting some shots with their wedding party we headed to the Missouri Botanical Gardens to meander around the beautiful landscapes before the ceremony. Things were in full bloom and we were in flower heaven!

Their ceremony took place in the rose garden and being the organized planners that they are, they had sunglasses waiting for all of their guests as they took their seats. Allie's brother served as their officiant and I loved that their ceremony had a very personal touch throughout. After these two were officially hitched we snuck away to get some shots just the two of them and then joined everyone for their reception. The evening continued with three phenomenal speeches, lots of dancing, and enjoyment by all. Daniel and I were truly honored to have the opportunity to photograph Allie + Matt's wedding. We always appreciate our couples inviting us into their lives for these precious moments! Please enjoy some highlights from their special day!

Elizabeth + Paul: Forest Park and CWE Engagement Session http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/6/elizabeth-paul-forest-park-and-cwe-engagement-session Goodness, I am very behind in blogging! Spring/summer wedding season has been very busy and I have a long line of posts that I want to put together. So many photos and stories that I want to share with you all!

While getting an oil change this morning, I wanted to take a little time to share a few of my favorites from Elizabeth + Paul's engagement session this spring! It was quite the adventure these two had while we were scheduling their session - we encountered a blast of unpredictable weather and then poor Paul took a tree limb to the face while doing yard work! Luckily Paul was ok and after some stitches and healing, we had our evening together back on the calendar!

Finally I had these two cuties behind my camera and it was so fun getting to know them more during our time together. Paul kept Elizabeth smiling and laughing the entire time - I know that he will do the same on their wedding day this October! We talked about their progress wedding planning, a possible 100th birthday party for their house, and how if Paul had had a worse scar from the tree branch - they could have put on a "Lion King themed" wedding LOL. That could have been tricky being that Scar is the villain... good thing it didn't come to that. No villains on wedding day!

Without further ado please enjoy some highlights from their engagement session!

Amanda + Tony: St. Francis Xavier Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/5/amanda-tony-st-francis-xavier-wedding Amanda + Tony said their I do's this April and are officially husband and wife! Working with them was so much fun and they were a dream to photograph! Their wedding day was chalk-full of adorable little details that reflected them as individuals and as a couple. They both attended pharmacy school here in St. Louis, and when Tony proposed to Amanda he surprised her at work with a very special prescription bottle containing her engagement ring! I always loved this story and was thrilled to see that their wedding favors were none other than custom Rx bottles with a special message and candy inside - so cute!

In the earlier part of the day they got ready at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel with their friends and family before heading over to St. Francis Xavier. Amanda and her bridesmaids were able to enjoy the new upstairs bridal area once we arrived. With its beautiful stained glass wall and extra room, it is a definite improvement to the prior downstairs space. I love that Tony + Amanda chose to have an unplugged ceremony - politely requesting that guests refrain from taking photographs/video during the ceremony so that they could be fully present. It always makes a HUGE difference when you are able to walk down the aisle seeing faces and not phones pointed at you. A definite recommendation for all engaged couples out there!

The moment they had been waiting for was finally here and Tony was absolutely beaming as he watched Amanda walking down the aisle towards him. The readers read, the words were said, and pretty soon Amanda + Tony were hitched! Now it was time to celebrate with their wedding party and enjoy the beautiful weather! Thanks to the delayed start to spring, we still had some lovely white and pink blossoms, and Amanda had some adorable handmade signs for her bridesmaids (check out below!)

Afterwards, we made our way back to Xavier for the reception and the room looked so gorgeous! Bright florals complimented dark accents, and the lovely generational photo table was a perfect touch. The aforementioned wedding favors were a big hit with guests and also served as entertaining rattles for the littlest ones lol. Their cake was classic and extra special as their beloved fur-baby made an appearance on the cake topper as well! The remainder of the night was spent enjoying time with friends and family and hitting the dance floor!

I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to document Amanda + Tony's special day and hope you enjoy some highlights below!

Chelsea + Ryan: Engagement Session Shaw Nature Reserve http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/4/chelsea-ryan-engagement-session-shaw-nature-reserve Hello spring! With all the back and forth with the resurgence of winter temperatures, I think that we have finally settled into a warmer pattern. This worked out perfectly for Chelsea + Ryan's engagement session at Shaw Nature Reserve.

Where to start with these two! They are both incredibly sweet people and compliment each other perfectly. Their chemistry together made for a very fun session, with plenty of laughter and snuggles as we ventured through the park. I really enjoyed getting to know them more and hearing more about their dogs, wedding plans, and trading funny neighborhood stories. It was a gorgeous evening and I could not stop myself from constantly exclaiming how beautiful the light was! Give me greenery, blossoms, and beautiful light - I am in heaven.

Chelsea + Ryan's big day is coming up this October and there are some very unique features that I am over the moon excited about! Ryan is a pilot, so their wedding reception is going to held in an airplane hanger with three aircraft sharing the space with us. I am already bubbling over with ideas and LOVE when couples incorporate different elements into their wedding day. After all, every couple is unique and why not celebrate your union in a way that highlights your passions in life :-)

Enjoy some highlights from Chelsea + Ryan's engagement session and be sure to keep an eye out for their wedding post later this year!

Brittany + Lauren: St. Louis Palladium Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/4/brittany-lauren-st-louis-palladium-wedding Thank goodness for waterproof eyeliner and mascara, because Brittany + Lauren's wedding day was definitely a tear-jerker! It is to be expected when such lovely individuals decide to commit their lives to each other. During my first meeting with Brittany + Lauren one thought kept running through my mind - "I hope they pick me, because I want to shoot this wedding!" And lucky for me, they did!

Family and friends helped them to tailor the day to perfectly reflect them as a couple. All of the details that these two chose were beautiful, but it was really the love and emotion that shined through! While getting ready, they exchanged letters and both did first looks with their dads. That is when the happy tears started flowing. I knew then that their first look was going to test the limits of my camera's weather proofing lol. Luckily Nikon does a good job, but a little viewfinder "windshield wiper" would be nice. I chose a spot in Forest Park where Lauren and I waited for Brittany and the rest of the wedding party to arrive. Needless to say, their first look was SO SWEET! Photographing these two seeing each other for the first time on their big day was truly such a privilege. We continued photos in Forest Park and headed over to Lafayette Square before their ceremony and reception.

The Joule and Palladium provided the perfect intimate space for their ceremony and reception. Between the two there is so much history. They originally were part of a city hospital campus and laundry facility. I love the balance between unique character features and modern updates! One of the many reasons St. Louis has such wonderful spots to photograph, is due to preservation and repurposing just like this.

Once Brittany + Lauren were officially hitched everyone headed into the Palladium for the reception! Cue the waterworks again for two very touching speeches from both of their dads and toasts from their maids or honor. Afterwards, the newlyweds shared their first dance together to Ed Sheeran's "Perfect" (more happy tears). Then we were on to double the father-daughter dances and I am pretty sure that all of my eye makeup was gone after this. I feel so lucky that I get to witness such amazing moments between families.

All of their guests danced the night away and enjoyed some fun with glow-in-the-dark ears and rings! I am so excited for Brittany + Lauren as their adventure continues! I had such a blast working with them and by the end was secretly wanting to be adopted into their families lol. Enjoy some highlights from their best day ever!

Jackie + Matt: Graham Chapel and Chase Park Plaza Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/3/jackie-matt-graham-chapel-and-chase-park-plaza-wedding Spring is officially here and the 2018 wedding season is in full swing! This St. Patrick's day I had the honor of photographing Jackie + Matt as they said their I dos. These two lovebirds met during college and were so very excited for their wedding after being together for nearly eight years! I loved hearing about their journey together during our first meeting. Matt works in Alaska and Jackie works here in town with her dad; they really have a beautiful commitment to eachother and have managed to make the distance irrelevant. Being two adventurous hearts, they share a love of travel. They told me about some international trips they have coming up this year and I am super jealous. First on their list is Bali - need I say more!

On their wedding day, Jackie + Matt enjoyed a fun morning of getting ready with their friends and family at The Chase. Can you say swooning over accessories!? Not only were her dress, jewelry, and shoes amazing - but I absolutely loved the glamorous "old Hollywood" look that her hair and makeup team created! The fabulous MW Makeup Designs has worked their magic again! Once Jackie had a special reveal with her bridesmaids, we headed off to Graham Chapel for the ceremony. The ceremony was a perfect mix of personal and traditional. Not only did their pastor have everyone laughing, but he also took some time to explain the significance of having their wedding on St. Patrick's day. He spoke about their love of nature and the significance of the color green, symbolizing love and new beginnings.

After the ceremony concluded we began wedding party pictures, and found that one of the trees right outside of Graham was blooming a beautiful pink. Yay for spring! Despite the somewhat chilly and breezy conditions, Jackie + Matt couldn't take their eyes off one another and soaked in every moment. Our driver Mace of BEST Transportation (who is my new favorite) kept everyone warm inside the bus between shots, and wasn't opposed to my idea of giving the wedding party an ice cream break after Forest Park. Once we arrived back at The Chase, the newlyweds were able to enjoy their cocktail hour before we headed in for the reception. The starlight room looked beyond stunning! Jackie's choice of subtle hints of green with gold accents created a beautiful look, complete with a very popular champagne table. Saving Grace Occasions did a wonderful job coordinating and helping to bring their vision to life!

Daniel and I are always reminded of how incredibly lucky we are to document these incredible moments in peoples' lives. Constant gratitude and awe as we tell love stories through our work. Enjoy some highlights from Jackie + Matt's special day!

Throwback Thursday: The Story of My First Camera http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/3/throwback-thursday-the-story-of-my-first-camera Recently, I was doing some reorganizing in my closet and stumbled upon the first camera that I ever bought. I tried to sell it once, but I am really glad that didn't work out. It serves as a fun reminder of the beginnings of my love for photography. So today I thought it would be fun to take a little trip down memory lane and share the story behind this first camera.

Growing up I always loved taking pictures. I burned through a ridiculous amount of disposable cameras (more than my mom cared to continue buying LOL). Back then I remember the excitement of taking those cameras up to the local grocery store to drop them off to be developed. Oh yes, I am talking about when Schnucks had a photo department and VHS movies for rent. After my umpteenth disposable camera I started saving for a real one. Babysitting money, birthday money, chore allowance - I saved everything. As I researched what "real" camera I wanted to buy, I focused on Canon. That was really the only brand that younger me had heard of. I settled on saving for the Canon Rebel 2000 that came in a kit, with a lens and a bag. After at least a year of saving, the time finally came when I was ready to head up to Best Buy and purchase my then dream camera.

I remember the sales associate asking me "was I sure that I didn't want to keep saving for one of the new digital cameras?" I was like, "No way, film is where its at!" Waiting long periods of time when you are younger is hard, and its also challenging to envision how much technology will change. Also to be fair, the digital cameras of those times were NOTHING like they are today. So I left Best Buy the proud owner of a new Canon Rebel 2000. When I got home I was so terrified of breaking my new prized possession. I fearfully attached the lens, inserted my first roll of film, and realized I had no idea what I was doing. Even so, I read the manual and started giving it a go. Now that I didn't have to rely on waiting for my next disposable camera, I was constantly taking pictures - of our pets, flowers, animals, and anything I encountered. Picking up the developed film and printed pictures was always my favorite part. There were lots of terrible pictures, but some good ones too. These prints made their way into an album (which luckily I also kept) and my love for photography continued to grow. My first year of high school I took a photography class and absolutely loved it. Getting to develop our own pictures in the school darkroom was AWESOME. I can still remember the dim red light and smell of chemicals surrounding us as we waited for our images to appear on the paper.

I am really grateful for this first camera. I am also grateful that I have these printed pictures to look back on. In such a digital age, it is a good reminder that printed images allow you to stumble upon these fun memories from the past. My toolkit looks a lot different these days. My DSLR Nikon cameras and lenses blow me away with their capabilities, but my love for photography is still the same. I just have always really loved taking pictures.

Amanda + John: St. Louis engagement session http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/3/amanda-john-st-louis-engagement-session Can we just talk about how beautiful and under appreciated winter light is!? My goodness, those tones of pink and amber in the evening - so gorgeous. The key of course is to match up that beautiful light with mild temperatures, which fortunately was exactly the case for Amanda + John's engagement session! They chose Forest Park for their location and we had the perfect temperature with zero wind. Thank you warm weather pattern! In addition, the park also happened to be filled with the most adorable puppies, what more could you ask for.

I have been so excited to photograph these two. Not only do Amanda + John make a fabulous couple, but they were our first engagement session since the Nikon D850 arrived! After four months on the backorder waitlist, I was ready to put this beauty to work. It did not disappoint! Everything I had heard about the responsiveness, detail, color depth, low light capabilities, etc - exceeded my expectations. I love this camera. Add in how adorable Amanda + John were together, and we were in engagement session heaven! It was so fun getting to know them. We chatted about our dogs (of course), wedding planning, and movies - it was a blast! Their wedding day this October is going to be one for the record books I just know it. Please enjoy some highlights below!

Looks By Lisa did my make-up! http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/2/looks-by-lisa-did-my-make-up When it comes to making a wedding day successful, it really does take a village. That is why I am so appreciative of the amazingly talented vendors that I get to work alongside! One such vendor is Lisa Lipsitz, makeup artist extraordinaire and owner of Looks By Lisa. Her team and I have worked together for several weddings now, and I am always so grateful to know that my brides are in her hands. Lisa's expertise and master makeup skills have led to over 600 weddings throughout her career, giving merit to her professionalism and broad makeup skill set. What I love about her work is that she emphasizes her clients' natural beauty and best features. Her signature look is: radiant, natural, sophisticated, and never overdone. Not only does her work speak for itself, but she is extremely fun and will give you lots of killer tips along the way.

I was lucky enough to get some hands on (or I suppose "face on") experience with her as we chatted about all things wedding and makeup. I already knew that Lisa is extremely personable and will have you laughing and smiling instantly, and this was definitely the case when we got together yesterday. Lisa told me all about the makeup line that she works with, Maskcara Beauty, and let me tell you it is awesome! Never before have I fallen so in love with a makeup and felt so confident (thanks to Lisa) about using it. She has a wonderful eye for blending your perfect color combination for everything - foundation, highlights, contours, blush, and lip color. It was all so helpful and I am excited to have a refreshed makeup routine that makes me feel beautiful and ready to take on the day!

Our approach to weddings is very similar - we both believe in creating a personal experience for clients, staying organized, being on time - and are 110% committed to the success of our couples' best day ever. Lisa has a great motto "dawn to dusk hair and makeup for the most photographed day of your life". As a wedding photographer, I certainly appreciate that Lisa and her team create lasting looks for my clients, and I know they do as well. Lisa and her team provide services on location and will get your day started on a flawless foot!

If you would like more information on how Lisa and her team can provide makeup and hair services for your big day or special event - check out her website Looks By Lisa. A big thank you to Lisa for doing my makeup and also to Daniel for photographing our fun yesterday!

Heather + Aaron: New Year's Eve Graham Chapel and Marriott Grand Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/1/heather-aaron-new-years-eve-graham-chapel-and-marriott-grand-wedding New Year's Eve is a very special day to get married. Not only are you ending the year/starting the year as a married couple, but it only falls on the weekend so often. Heather + Aaron were our last couple of 2017 (and first of 2018) and they could not have been more amazing! Not only are they a beautiful couple, they are just as beautiful on the inside and absolutely adored by their friends and family.

It has to be said that the weather can go many ways when you have a winter wedding, and for these two we got the coldest of the cold! The high was 12 degrees and the low that night was -24 with the wind chill. Brrrrrrr! However, Daniel and I have dubbed Heather + Aaron our ultimate weather warriors! Seriously. They were total troopers and during our short stints outside for pictures, they did amazing. Not once did I have to ask them to relax their shoulders or smile like their faces weren't freezing off. Not even these subzero temps could lessen their excitement on their big day! I don't know how they did it - I could barely feel my legs at one point  - while Heather was in a dress and open-toed shoes totally killing it!

Their ceremony took place at Graham Chapel and they held their reception and New Year's Eve countdown at the Marriott Grand downtown. Both locations were stunning and WARM! I absolutely loved their choice of colors and details for their glamorous winter wedding, everything looked perfect and festive. The maid of honor and best man both did tremendous jobs on their speeches and had everyone laughing, as well as wiping some tears. Add in a photobooth, lots of dancing, new year's props, and a pizza delivery to sustain everyone until midnight - and you have a perfect night! Daniel and I had an absolute blast photographing everyone having so much fun! In fact, we captured one of our all time favorite reception dancing pictures...you will know it when you see it. Heather + Aaron's wedding day was all around a wonderful celebration of their becoming Mr. & Mrs. and we loved every minute of working with them! I was so glad that they honeymooned somewhere warm! Enjoy some highlights from their best day ever! Happy 2018!

Beth + Matt: St. Ambrose and Majorette St. Louis Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2018/1/beth-matt-st-ambrose-and-majorette-st-louis-wedding Beth + Matt's love story started on match.com. As Beth was telling me about their meeting, I instantly felt a kinship with her as Daniel and I also met on Match. Thank you modern day technology for connecting us all!

When these two lovely souls intercepted, their bond was plain to see. Friends and family knew that this was the beginning of something extra special for them both. And most importantly, once Beth's dad determined that Matt wasn't jinxing the Badgers into losing, he was accepted into the family!

With their wedding date falling at the beginning of December, notes of holiday magic filled the air and everything felt wonderfully festive. Their ceremony took place at St. Ambrose church (always beautiful) and their reception was at Majorette (yay Maplewood!) I was so excited to hear that their puppy Quincy would be meeting us at the park after the ceremony for a quick visit. She was oh so adorable and did a great job posing for the camera! Throughout the day so much fun was had by all and everyone took FULL advantage of the party bus - which led to some hilarious "bus-dancing" pictures. SO FUN! I now wish for all of my couples' transportation to have a dancing pole and people willing to use it lol.

That evening we arrived at Majorette and the celebration continued with three incredible speeches that had everyone doubled over in laughter! Beth's dad recounted the close call that occurred during Matt's first visits to Wisconsin. The Badgers had lost two games during his stay and this threw everything into question. Fortunately, the third visit proved a successful Badger victory and everyone breathed a sigh of relief! As fate would have it, there was a Badgers game taking place the night of the wedding, but not to worry they were able to have it projected infront of the bar area lol. True sports fans to the end! It was a night of dancing, cheering, and celebrating! I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph Beth + Matt's special day. They are such a wonderful couple and I had so much fun with them! Enjoy some highlights from their December wedding!

Krista + Grant: St. Louis Jewel Box and Franklin Room wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/12/krista-grant-st-louis-jewel-box-wedding Imagine two of the bubbliest, happiest, and kindest people you could meet... and you have Krista + Grant! These two were made for each other and it shows! Not only are they both twins, work at the same company, and love Harry Potter, but they both have a remarkable way of always making space for others in their lives. Over and over again during their wedding day, this was obvious. They are the friends, siblings, children, etc that you can always count on, and the love and support from their guests was very clear. Krista + Grant planned a wonderful celebration to enjoy with many unique touches, such as a wine cork signing, in lieu of a guestbook, and a killer live band!

Their ceremony took place at the Jewel Box and their reception was held in the Franklin Room. Both were gorgeous per usual! In between, they had a blast on the party bus and we rode around to a few spots in Forest park and Soulard. We stopped at McGurk's so they could do a special toast with their wedding party before heading over to the reception. I also was able to snag a few pictures of them outside of the amazing brick exterior with my favorite colored doors! All the colored doors please!

Working with these two amazing humans has been such a treat. They both left me inspired in both their love and friendship to all those around them :) I see great things ahead for them as they begin their married lives together. Check out some highlights from their big day below!

Nichole + Nick: St. Louis, Glen Echo Country Club Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/12/nichole-nick-st-louis-glen-echo-country-club-wedding Nichole + Nick have a long love story that began when they were young. Their families have been friends from the beginning, and this gave them the opportunity to grow up together. I absolutely loved hearing about their history when we first met! As an engineer and architect, they have similarities and differences that compliment each other perfectly both in personality and profession. From our first conversations, I could tell that these two were putting together an unforgettable wedding day!

They held their ceremony and reception at Glen Echo Country Club - not only was it a beautiful setting - this allowed them to spend the day there with their friends and family. We had a BLAST! In the morning the bridesmaids' robes served as camouflage and Nichole and her besties had a hilarious champagne toast once we got the bottle open (they encountered a resistant cork). Nichole + Nick had an adorable first look and then we took the golf carts for a spin with the wedding party for some pictures before the ceremony. Their ceremony was punctuated with lots of happy tears and adorable personal stories that made it extra special. I am always a fan of the personal touches and they always come through when you have a connection with your officiant! After the ceremony, guests headed over to enjoy the cocktail hour, dinner, and lots of fun dancing! To say that everyone enjoyed the reception would be an understatement! The dance floor was never empty and a fantastic time was had by all. Be sure that you make it to the end of this post to check out one of my all time favorite dancing captures of a guest getting so low that he almost split his pants LOL. It took great discipline to edit their reception pictures, as they kept me busting out in fits of laughter :-) Nichole + Nick and all of their friends and family were so fun to work with - I could not have enjoyed spending the day with them more. I feel so fortunate to be able to spend my time with such amazing clients that keep me laughing and smiling all the way through editing! Enjoy some highlights from their unforgettable wedding day!

Emily + Tyler: Engagement Session Shaw Nature Reserve http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/11/emily-tyler-engagement-session-shaw-nature-reserve From the moment I met these two adventurous souls I knew they would be absolute magic to photograph! Emily + Tyler have a deep love of exploring nature and new places. One of my favorite quotes came to mind after their engagement session: "I have loved her my little wanderer, with a mind full of wild forests and eyes that awaits adventures" - Connie Cernik. It suites them perfectly!

Shaw Nature Reserve seemed the natural choice for these two, and I was so glad they were open to exploring the gem of Gray Summit. We had such a great time playing among the golden light in the trees and fields. Caroline + Tim: St. Anthony of Padua and Windows on Washington Wedding http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/9/caroline-tim-st-anthony-of-padua-and-windows-on-washington-wedding Caroline + Tim, oh where to begin! These two high school sweethearts were absolutely ecstatic to be tying the knot this past August. Their love for each other and their friends and family (including cat Jack) is so abundant - it showed in every detail :-) So many hugs, so much laughter, and so much warmth and joy. It was truly a day to remember!

Their ceremony took place at St. Anthony of Padua and they held their reception at Windows on Washington. In between we stopped at Tower Grove Park for their bride + groom and wedding party pictures and had an absolute blast! A mild weather day in August....unheard of and appreciated by all! Once we arrived at Windows on Washington for their reception, I fell head over heels in love with all of their decorations and details. I LOVED how they situated their sweetheart table in between the rest of the head table, and their cake - so adorable! It was an evening of sweet speeches, hilarious dancing, candy-table eating, and fun. Caroline + Tim soaked in every moment of their big day!

Documenting their celebration was such a honor. My hope is always that through revisiting their pictures, clients can be transported back to these precious moments in time. Please enjoy some highlights from Caroline + Tim's best day ever!

Ellen + Mike: Engagement Session Forest Park http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/9/ellen-mike-engagement-session-forest-park Fall wedding season is here and with it pumpkin muffins, warm cozy drinks, and layers (well almost, once this heat passes) - hurray! I did want to take a look back to Ellen + Mike's oh so sweet engagement session a couple of months ago. Mike had proposed in Forest Park this past winter, so they knew they wanted to head back there for their engagement pictures!  I had so much fun with these two learning more about them individually and as a couple. They compliment each other so well and were just beaming from ear to ear! Snuggles from these two are in no short supply and their joy is contagious.

Mike + Ellen will be getting married in September of next year and I can tell that they have a terrific day coming together! I love when clients plan to add in unique elements that reflect them as a couple, and can not wait to see their vision come to life! In the meantime, please enjoy a few highlights from their engagement session!

Jess + Johanna: St. Paul Lutheran Church + Forest Park Wedding Day http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/9/johanna-jess-st-paul-lutheran-church-forest-park-wedding-day Jess + Johanna became Mr. & Mrs. this June and planned a phenomenal summer wedding! The entire day was sprinkled with so many thoughtful details. It truly reflected their faith and love for one another as they prepared to begin the journey of marriage together. From the vintage necklace that Jess had gifted Johanna, to the potted ivy wedding favors and hand-folded paper cranes - we were in wedding photographer heaven! The fact that these two were exceptional to work with was the icing on the cake.

Their ceremony took place at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Illinois and they held their reception at the World's Fair Pavilion in Forest Park. Jess + Johanna's family and friends lifted them up in love and celebration - making it a day for all to remember! Daniel and I were so fortunate to have the opportunity to document their special day. We had gorgeous summer evening light, smiling faces, and two beautiful souls in love - perfect day! To top it all off we even experienced a picture perfect sunset. Enjoy some of the highlights from Jess + Johanna's best day ever!

Lea + Jake: St. Louis Engagement Session http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/9/lea-jake-st-louis-engagement-session Lea + Jake are one of our couples for May 2018, and we could not be more excited to photograph their wedding day! We met them during Kelly + Adam's wedding, where we instantly saw the amazing spark between them! Lea + Jake are both extremely kind, fun, and easy going. They have a deep and steadfast love for each other and I see them moving through all of life ups and downs hand in hand :-) Two perfect puzzle pieces together!

For their engagement session I knew that these two would be magic in any location. We were lucky to avoid a passing fluke thunderstorm and had a blast with them! Throughout their session we learned more about their passion for the sciences (Lea for animals and Jake for engineering) and Jake's obsession with falafel (yummmmm!) I am fellow falafel fan so this was wonderful news! It was such a fun evening and such a treat to photograph the sweetness between them! Enjoy a few highlights from their engagement session!

Bennet + Justin: Wedding at Wine Country Gardens http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/8/bennet-justin-wedding-at-wine-country-gardens Bennet + Justin are an amazing couple! These two high school sweethearts were made for each other and I could see that right away during our first meeting. Both are very talented - Bennet with visual art and Justin with music - and together their creativities compliment each other perfectly! As I was learning more about their wedding plans, I knew that a fantastic day was in the making.

Both Bennet + Justin were able to get ready at Bennet's childhood home with their wedding party. There was so much excitement and anticipation in the air as they each prepared with their friends! Bennet did an excellent job of choosing gorgeous accessories and shoes in rose gold and blue that added a beautiful pop of color. Paired with the amazing bouquets from Roses & Mint and bridesmaid dresses, you get color heaven!

Photographing these two as they saw each other for the first time as bride and groom was priceless. They both couldn't help but smile from ear to ear :-) After their first look we waited out a quick storm as it passed over, and were so glad when the sun returned for our time at Klondike Park! From there we headed over to Wine Country Gardens for their ceremony and reception. The setting could not have been more perfect and the rain stayed away for the rest of the day! During their ceremony they incorporated a "unity brew", as a representation of one of their new hobbies together - brewing beer - such a unique touch. Lots of laughs and happy tears all around - Bennet + Justin were husband and wife! The rest of the evening they enjoyed celebrating and dancing the night away with their friends and family. It was a truly wonderful day and I loved documenting it all! Please enjoy some highlights from Bennet + Justin's magical wedding day!

Allie + Matt: Summer engagement session http://www.karavollephotography.com/blog/2017/7/allie-matt-summer-engagement-session Every season has its own unique elements to lend to engagement sessions, and summer is no exception. When its hot and humid here in St. Louis...we all scream for ice cream! Luckily, we are surrounded by some fantastic artisanal ice cream parlors in our city.

Allie + Matt flew in from NYC to visit family and friends over fourth of July weekend and it was the perfect chance for us to meet up for their engagement session! I figured the forecast would lend itself to cooling off with some ice cream and these two were totally on board. We started their session at Lafayette Square Park and headed over to Clementine's Naughty and Nice Creamery where they were able to cool off with some sweet treats! We had an absolute blast during their session and I am so excited for their wedding coming up in May 2018! Enjoy a few highlights from their engagement session :-)
